Chakalaka should not be shared with dogs — traditional recipes are onion-based and often include chilli, both of which cause real problems for dogs.
Onion is one of the most consistently present ingredients across chakalaka recipes, and it's genuinely toxic to dogs in a cumulative way (see our onions & garlic page). The chilli content adds separate GI irritation on top of that. This is a dish to keep away from dogs entirely, not just moderate.
