Can Dogs Eat Droëwors?

ModerateSparingly, Check Spice Mix

Like biltong, small amounts of plain droëwors are generally tolerated, but the same salt and potential onion/garlic seasoning concerns apply.

Why

Droëwors is cured and dried in a similar way to biltong, carrying the same core considerations: significant salt content from the curing process, and the possibility of onion or garlic powder in the traditional spice mix. Treat it the same way you would biltong.

How to serve it safely

  • Check the ingredient list or ask about the spice mix used before sharing
  • Small amounts only, and not as a regular treat given the salt content
  • Avoid entirely if you can't confirm the spice mix is onion/garlic-free
