Can Dogs Eat Swiss Chard?

ModerateSmall Amounts

Small amounts of cooked Swiss chard are generally fine, but like spinach, its oxalate content means it shouldn't be a regular, large part of the diet.

Why

Swiss chard contains oxalates similar to spinach, which in large regular amounts can be a concern for dogs prone to bladder or kidney stones. Occasional small servings aren't a practical concern for most healthy dogs.

How to serve it safely

  • Cook lightly and serve in small amounts
  • Avoid regular large feeding, especially for dogs with a history of kidney or bladder stones
